1. Numbers, letters, or alphanumeric code assigned to every significant customer, supplier, and lender for ease of reference in an organization's accounting records.
2. Code which identifies the holder of a bank account. Credit cards, for example, have a 16 digit account number as specified by both MasterCard and Visa organizations. Also called account code.
