Popular Terms
1. Commerce: Perceived strength of a downward or upward movement in prices that will sustain the trend for a while. In securities markets, some investors (called momentum investors) trade in stocks whose falling prices are expected to continue to fall, or whose rising prices are expected to continue to rise, in the short term.
2. Mechanics: (1) Angular momentum is the product of angular velocity of a rotating body and its moment of inertia about the axis of rotation. (2) Linear momentum is the product of the mass of a body traveling in a straight line and its velocity.
